Robert Perl, Psy.D.


Dr. Perl is core faculty at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, where he teaches and advises psychology doctoral students. As the Wright Institute’s Internship Advisor, Dr. Perl draws upon his broad interests in standards and quality assurance in psychology education and training, clinical competencies, and professional development.

Through a series of workshops, meetings and one-on-one consultation, Robert Perl works with Wright Institute students to plan their clinical training sequence, prepare them in the internship application process, and help them to develop career goals. Each year, he assists students in successfully navigating the internship application and selection process.

Dr. Perl holds a staff psychologist position at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center providing inpatient crisis intake and assessment. He also maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Berkeley, where he works with adults and adolescents in both brief and long-term dynamic psychotherapy.

Dr. Perl has served on the Alameda County Psychological Association Board of Directors, and for eight years worked as a school psychologist in Marin County.

Dr. Perl is a graduate of the Wright Institute, and trained at the California Pacific Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, where he served as Chief Intern in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. He is credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, a member of APA, CPA and the Alameda County Psychological Association.

Dr. Perl currently serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the CAPIC, and was Chair of the board 2004-05.
